The TFA401 is a temperature assembly combining a spring loaded thermocouple sensor with a solid drilled stepped flanged thermowell. This heavy duty construction is designed for use within applications involving high pressures and flow rates.
The TFA401 temperature sensor is available as a type E, type J, type K, type N or type T thermocouple in simplex, duplex or triplex configuration. The probe can specified with either an isolated, grounded or exposed sensor junction.
This thermocouple assembly is available with an aluminium, stainless steel or plastic connection head which has a M20 x 1.5 cable entry. The sensor can be terminated with a ceramic terminal block, 4 to 20 mA transmitter or supplied with tails. There is also an option to specify a loop powered or battery powered indicator.
The thermowell features a stepped stem profile for improved response times and has wide variety of flange sizes and ratings available including RF, FF and RTJ configurations.
This style of thermowell is available with a seal or full penetration welded flange, or for ultimate strength machined as a one-piece forging.
The stepped TFA401 flanged thermowell is available in a wide selection of materials including 316 stainless steel, Alloy C276 (Hastelloy®), Alloy 400 (Monel®) and Alloy 600 (Inconel®).
In order to determine or prove the suitability and required dimensions of a thermowell based on the process conditions, we offer wake frequency calculations as per ASME PTC 19.3 TW-2016. In addition there are a number of other certification and testing services available including 3.1 material certificates, dye penetrant testing, positive material identification (PMI) and radiographic inspection (X-Ray).
The TFA401 thermocouple temperature sensor assembly is additionally available with ATEX Exia, IECEx Exia, UKCA Exia (intrinsically safe), ATEX Exd, IECEx Exd or UKCA Exd (flameproof) hazardous area approval for use within Zones 0, 1, 2, 20, 21 and 22.
